"If you are bored, you are boring."

My mom gave me this simple advice when I was five years old and it has stuck with me for almost half a century. Not wanting to be a boring person motivates me to be an interesting woman, has me look at life from the point of view that I am responsible for my own happiness, and contributes to my endless curiosity about myself, other people, and the world around me. Because being bored doesn’t occur to me, I am comfortable spending time alone, performing repetitive tasks, and waiting.  

This advice and training came in handy in my profession as a Massage Therapist, as I consistently performed a repetitive task while working alone. Even though I have done basically the same treatment more than 20,000 times, I have never been bored. I have been blessed with a gift of touching people and it is an honor to be able to share it. I am energized to see people newly each appointment and blessed to have the privilege of connecting on a deep level with other human beings who come to me stressed, leave relaxed, and then see how their greatness ripples out into the world.

Mom, you are one of the most interesting people I know and if it weren’t for you, I’d have no life at all. Thank you, Mom, for the gift of life and for all the advice!  Because of your advice, I was able to build a business, support myself financially and have the satisfaction of contributing and making the world a better place. And, never be bored.
