Brenda Dulaney

My mom taught me the importance of being a woman who can stand on her own. She instilled in me the role that education plays in that.

From a very early age, I saw how my mom didn’t want to be in a situation where there was inequality between a man and a woman.

Puerto Rico

She didn’t sit me down and give me lectures about this. My mom demonstrated these values in her ways of being and through her accomplishments. She did it all with power, grace, and love. She had a successful career, advanced degree, gave back to her community, and at the same she was a supportive and a loving mom to four children.

Where I can see all this influenced me is in my tenacity and drive which overall translates to my leadership.

My tenacity and drive led me to complete higher levels of education, and advance in my career. I have a BA in Supply Chain Management, an MBA with emphasis in International Business and I am currently a Senior Director at Honeywell Aerospace. I also intend to be one of the few female leaders in a top management position in the company.

A proud leadership accomplishment I have in my career was being able to remove myself as the Senior Manager of a team because I saw that the middle managers were ready to take over. I’ve empowered and developed them where I felt my role was no longer required. They got promoted to Senior Manager positions leading their own teams. We improved efficiencies, cut costs, and elevated the next level of leadership. I have since moved on to other roles within the company.

Moving to Puerto Rico for my work was also a demonstration of my tenacity and drive. They say the magic happens when you go out of your comfort zone. Starting a life here has stretched me in a wonderful way and I’ve been living here now for 12 yrs.

Mom, You are the person that we all look up to and aspire to be like. You are a kind, loving, compassionate and considerate individual. You always found a way to support each child in ways that you saw we needed to be supported and loved. You did that and ensured that we were successful in life and we did that with our education and career.
