I remember my Mom sharing this to me one night when I was in College. I was home on break, and was sharing with her my troubles with dating and finding "the one".
When she told me, "Marriage isn't meant to make you happy. It's meant to bring each other closer to God”,
I was initially shocked, confused, a little bit dismayed, and ultimately, very moved and in awe of this sacred purpose of marriage, that I hadn't really been present to before.
I am now married, and I am crystal clear that I am my husband’s champion in life; I am committed to him experiencing my unconditional love, as well as being empowered by his own greatness. I am honored as his partner, to encourage him in expanding into his own sacred purpose and his own Godliness, thereby deepening his intimacy (and my own) with God, and consequently, with each other.

Oh wow! I am so very lucky to have had God's love modeled for me in your beautiful relationship to Dad. Thank you, Mom, for also modeling God's love to me and my siblings; we're blessed to have received your (and Dad's) unconditional love- our lives weren't perfect, but I developed into adulthood with nourishing love and care and with the knowledge that you and Dad have always been my champions and always will be. I am now moved at the possibility of returning the love and gratitude, by being your and dad's champion, and source of unconditional love as well! I love you soooo so much, Mom!
